Why when I read an article in the papers this morning did the REM song rebound through my mind?
Apparently, in the words of Corporal Fraser "We're doooomed".
On September 10th the largest particle physics laboratory at CERN fires up its LHC (Large Hadron Collider) in an attempt to replicate the moment of the Big Bang. Am I the only person to think that maybe this should be left well alone considering the 'impact' the first Big Bang had?
Time to make whoopee me thinks....

The Big Bang theoretically was the moment when all matter and energy contained in the universe expanded rapidly from a single point.
The LHC experiment is going to try to replicate this event with a few sub-atomic particles (hadrons). The result will either be an rather small (ie containable) release of energy or it will fail completely, the latter being the most likely. Rether than being a threat to reality as a lot of the general public think because of scaremongering, it's going to be a case of pop or flop.
All of the wories are irrelevant. If you have the technology to destroy the world, and it is managed by a button on the wall saying "end of the world", how long do you think we would last before someone pressed it to find out what it would do?

All I can say is no shit.. The LHC team are mental to go ahead with this. There is a body that is trying to prevent this.
