Today Seaford hosts it's annual 'Donkey Derby' an event to raise money for the Lions Club. When the weather is fine (like today) it draws a fantastic crowd.
We moved here 11 years ago when it was a small affair with a series of races,a beer tent a tombola and the usual cake stands.
Now we have marching bands, Classic Car Show and funfair rides.

What I like about it most is the fact that it looks like a scene out of a Norman Thelwell book, with little girls in riding gear sat on stubborn asses trying to Cajole them round the course in front of a cheering audience waving their Tote tickets.

Why is it things like this are slowly disappearing from the English countryside? Do we find it all a bit twee know?
