MSN run with a piece on The Rise of Newglish:an evolving language today where they list new words that you never knew existed.

Unfortunately, as is the tradition of the TV program Balderdash and Piffle I can pre-date some of these by at least 30 years.

For instance the word 'Flob'(a piece of spittle and mucus that has been spat out) I was known to flob on the football pitch when I was 11. Then there is 'doobrey' – a thingummy, another common word I used instead of ugimaflip. Also I am sure "he hasn't got a scooby" was used in the 70's 'scooby-doo' being rhymimg slang for clue. Finally I was calling other kids 'twonks' when I was in short pants.

I don't see these as new words but as re-hashed and there are a lot more from my childhood that need a resurgence.

'Sussed' - being one. Said when you caught somebody out. Usually accompanied with the pulling down of a lower eyelid with a finger.
'Psyche' - to psyche somebody, to do a turn on them.
'Conf(l)ab' - a conversation amongst friends
'Doofus'or 'dork' - an idiot
'Fooey- - rubbish
'swizz' - being conned or to con

Do you remember any of these or more?
